Super Tuning.

Our most comprehensive and popular package ($400)

This package is for those who are looking at a complete overhaul of their bow, arrows, and form. The end result is perfect arrow flight, which we validate and achieve by manipulating the bow until it throws a bare shaft arrow, through paper, at 20 yards (60 feet). We do all of this while leaving the rest in the factory position (13/16ths is the most common).

*Note: If you are shipping the bow from out of State, you cover shipping costs for getting the bow to us and the return label. We recommend using UPS for shipping. Don’t want to ship a bow case? We don’t blame you. Ask your local archery shop if they have any cardboard bow boxes you can use.

  • Consultation: We start with a phone call to discuss your goals, equipment, and develop a road map to get you where you want to go. During this consultation, we will take down all of your specifications so we can advise you on items such as arrow spine, weight, etc.

  • Form Assessment: In order to ensure you have a foundation for success once our services are complete- we will do a complete form assessment before ordering your components begins. This is to help us determine what your draw length needs to be to give you the most stable shot possible. A bow with too long of draw length will give wide-sweeping pin float when you settle the pin on the bullseye. A bow with too short of a draw length will react the opposite and want to quickly jerk off the target. This is arguably the most important step in our entire super tuning process.

  • Replace and SETTING quality strings and cables: Once we receive the bow our first step is to replace your strings and cables and bring the bow to factory specifications. We guarantee our tunes will hold with Gas Ghost XV or Freakshow strings. We are happy to tune other high-quality strings such as ABB, however, we will not guarantee the tune will hold.

    • Once the strings are installed we shoot the bow 150-200 times to ensure our work on the following steps will be rock solid.

  • Build, Fletch, and Tune 1 Dozen Arrows: Your arrow weight goals and specifications will determine our recommended path. We use Archers Advantage software to determine the spine of the arrow needed for your rig. We highly recommend Victory Arrows in .001 straightness (we do not super-tune arrows with less than .001 straightness). Spine-aligned arrows such as Victory are also recommended.

    • For fletching, unless otherwise requested by the client, we fletch to the natural rotation of the string (Example: Gas bow strings naturally spin a bare shaft to the left- so we use a left helical). We have the ability to fletch in three or four vanes and can apply a helical of 1-4 degrees.

    • For inserts and collars, we use hotmelt so you can adjust broadhead alignment in the future.

    • Each end of the arrow is squared, each shaft is tuned with the stiff side up, and spin tested to ensure you don’t have “flyers” in your future.

  • Micro Tuning Cam Timing and Drawlength: Are you ready to hold your bow steadier than you ever thought possible? We set the nock point perfectly in between the axles and micro-tune the cables until the cams are PERFECTLY in sync (you can find our tricks to micro tune cam timing on our Instagram). From there, we work on what is arguably one of the most underlooked components of shooting accurately: your draw length. At each adjustment, we check pin float to find your most stable draw length and make adjustments down to 1/8th of an inch.

  • Nock sets, rest timing, d-loop, and peep: To ensure nock pinch does not happen, we tie in knock sets, and install a BCY Spectra #23 D-loop. This material is much stronger and more flexible than the traditional loop rope you find in most shops. Once the peep is installed, it’s time to begin phase two of our tuning process.

  • Stabilizer setup: Stabilizers can have a significant influence on arrow flight and how your hand reacts to the shot- before tuning begins, we set up your bars so that when you come to full draw your sight’s bubble is perfectly in the middle. This step can take time to find the most optimum stabilizer setup that eliminates as much pin float as possible.

  • Bare Shaft Tuning: While the process for bare shaft tuning is the same, how we manipulate horizontal bare shaft flight varies by make and model of each bow. In a nutshell, through a combination of cam shimming, yoke tuning, or cable rod tuning horizontal arrow flight is manipulated. To correct vertical bare shaft flight, we adjust the nock point or use cam timing. We start at three yards and work our way out to 20 yards until a bare shaft bullet hole through paper is repeated by your bow. We either achieve this or you don’t pay our tuning fee.

  • Finishing touches: From here we finalize peep position to be comfortable in the center of your shooting range (for slide sights only) with your head and body in perfect T-form alignment. A new d loop is installed and we rotate your string to ensure peep rotation is a thing of the past. We end our tunes with a specifications sheet that includes every measurement needed to return your bow back to this position should something be changed in the future. From here, we are on call for you and would love to have you join us for one of our weekly range sessions.

  • Broad Head validation: To confirm the bow is perfectly tuned, we shoot each bow at a series of ranges using various fixed blade broad heads.

The End Product: When your bow leaves our shop, our promise is simple: any fixed blade broadhead (that’s straight) will impact perfectly with field points out to 100 yards. Your peep won’t rotate on you, your hold on target will be more solid than ever, and your arrows will hit harder than they ever have before. Most importantly- you’ll be more confident in your setup than ever before.

Note: New strings cables, arrows, arrow components, and new accessories are provided by you and are not included in our super tuning fee. Our fee covers of time and labor. Depending on the bow and arrows, we will have 24-36 hours invested in your setup when we are done.

Homework when your bow is complete: When our work ends- yours is just beginning! It’s time for you to get acclimated to your new bow since we’ve made some pretty significant changes. There’s no better way to get into shooting shape and progress as an archer than mastering and getting back to the basics- which is why we recommend going through Week’s 1-12 of Season 1 of Nock On Archery’s School of Nock YouTube series. We personally go through the School of Nock twice a year to maintain proper form….plus, who doesn’t love shooting their bow every day?!
