Why does Super Tuning matter?

As a bowhunter, we dream of that one incredible and rare opportunity on the animal of a lifetime. Maybe it’s a Grizzly in the Yukon, or a 140-inch public land whitetail you’ve been chasing all season. Don’t you wish in these moments, you could be perfect? Not make a mistake and execute the shot of a lifetime flawlessly? Bad news, your human. The good news, your bow is a machine that can achieve perfection.

If you visit the “Services” page of our website, we provide a detailed breakdown of everything we include in our super tuning service. On this page, we wanted to take some time to explain why we feel super tuning should be at the top of every archer’s list.

Even worse than missing an animal of a lifetime, the worst possible feeling for a bowhunter is wounding an animal. Modern compound bows (most of them) are finely tuned feats of engineering, they can be far deadlier than most realize. If you are willing to take the time to learn and understand what role every piece of the bow is playing- you can do some pretty incredible things with them. When an arrow comes out of a bow perfectly, it’s able to utilize the full force of its energy to push your point exactly where you are aiming. When an arrow comes out of an untuned bow, the vanes are there to correct it, and energy is being lost as the arrow try’s to correct itself.

We’ve all seen broad head packages that say “fly’s like a field point”. The truth is- any STRAIGHT broad head on a STRAIGHT arrow can “fly like a field point” if your bow is properly tuned. But at the end of the day- why does super tuning matter? It’s so you can progress and become a better archer, competitor, or bowhunter.

You are only as strong as your weakest link. Sound familiar? When you practice you can only practice to the level which your bow is capable of achieving. You can not consistently progress and get better if your bow is not capable of performing better than you are. This same premise goes for your equipment- a $1,500 bow can’t reach it’s potential with a poorly made sight, it can’t group at long range consistently with arrows that aren’t straight and tuned.

Archery is an impossible journey of trying to achieve perfection. It’s you and the bow. Give yourself the highest odds possible.
